Dr. Kofi Akohene Mensah is the Chief Executive Officer of AMC, Senior Lecturer, and Head of the Department of Health Policy, Management, and Economics, School of Public Health, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi. Prior to his appointment as CEO, he held a position as a hospital administrator and outreach project coordinator for the hospital. Kofi has worked with the hospital for over 19 years.
He holds a BSc in Community Nutrition from the University for Development Studies, an MSc in Health Services Planning and Management from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and a PhD in Public Health and Health Policy from the University of Glasgow, UK. As a CEO, he has coordinated several community-based interventions to improve health outcomes in deprived and hardest-to-reach communities with local and international organizations such as the Ghana AIDS Commission, USAIDS, DANIDA, UNICEF, CRS, Word Vision Ghana, etc. in the area of HIV/AIDS, child survival, Nutrition, Health care Financing, Non-communicable diseases, etc. He mentors and teaches graduate and undergraduate students in medicine, public health, and related fields. He has coordinated translational research that has culminated in national policies in maternal, neonatal, and child health and health system strengthening.
